Santa Cruz Real Estate Headshots – Team and Individual

Santa Cruz Real Estate Headshots – Team and Individual

Look, I know headshots are not everyone’s favorite – it’s often thought of as a “necessary evil” – kinda like going to the dentist. Except I can promise you one thing, it won’t be painful, and instead of coming back to me every 6 months, what I do for business professionals will serve them for a decade. And the best thing? Every year you have this new headshot, you’ll like it more. Heck, by the time that decade comes around, you’ll be so fond of that photo you’ll seriously consider never replacing it. But you will. And you will call me.

Enjoy my favorite business headshots from this amazing Santa Cruz real estate team, including their mascot. Go Team!

Food and Drink Photography @ San Ramon

Food and Drink Photography @ San Ramon

It’s been a couple years since I last photographed the food and drinks at Firehouse 37 in San Ramon, California – and the owner was changing some menu items and plating – basically revamping things a bit. The food is delicious, the service is spectacular, and I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. If you’re in the San Ramon area, drive on over to Firehouse 37 for lunch or dinner!

South Bay Tacos – Commercial Food Photography

I photographed some of the best tacos in San Jose / Santa Clara. Not only do they taste great, but they look amazing too! Here’s a few of my favorite taco food photos from visiting various locations, including Dia de Pesca (San Jose), Puesto (Santa Clara), Tacos el Compa Taqueria (San Jose), and Zona Rosa (San Jose).

Palo Alto Food & Drink Restaurant Photography @ Quattro / Four Seasons

Quattro Restaurant inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto needed a bunch of new food photos, including shots with a few food suppliers they work with (like for caviar, mushrooms, spices and fresh fish). This was a very productive 1/2 day shoot, covering over a dozen fully-plated entrees, some side dishes, cocktails, and even some action with the chefs in the kitchen. I’m very used to dynamic restaurant shoots like this, and my clients appreciate that I can quickly switch between food detail mode and lifestyle portrait mode as-needed. Here’s a few of my favorite shots from the Palo Alto food photography shoot.

Grand Opening – Aprés @ Four Seasons Silicon Valley

Grand Opening – Aprés @ Four Seasons Silicon Valley

Four Seasons in Palo Alto have a new “Aprés” outdoor-ski-lodge-style addition to their Quattro restaurant patio. I was hired to capture the ambiance, the feel of the setting – couples cozying up to open fire decor enjoying custom Tito’s Vodka-based cocktails. Don’t these photos make you want to check out this place? You should!

Palo Alto Headshot Photography for Venture Capital Company

Two new hires at Eclipse Venture Capital means a couple quick portrait sessions in their beautiful Palo Alto office space. These are more environmental portraits, taking into account the surroundings, then a standard headshot. This type of business portrait is more interesting and challenging, and therefore more rewarding when I can do it well (and quick). Here’s a few of my faves…

Rose Garden, San Jose Headshots for Community Energy Dept.

Rose Garden, San Jose Headshots for Community Energy Dept.

I photographed the first few staff of the newly-formed Community Energy Department for the City of San Jose last year; since then the department has grown and they needed more photos of the new employees. We had originally shot in the Rose Garden in San Jose, so we booked the same location. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize that (this being January and all) there would be no roses… Ah well, I started out with the fountain as a backdrop, but then the harsh sun came out, and we moved to a little crop of redwood trees to find some shade. The light continued to change throughout the shoot, which gave some nice variety to the headshots, even though the subjects themselves were lit consistently. Enjoy a few of my faves below:

Group Photo of Staff at Eclipse Venture Capital in Palo Alto, California

This was a last-minute, same-day request for a group photo, needed for an editorial in the Wall Street Journal. Eclipse VC is on High Street in Palo Alto, and their office is actually really interesting for shooting portraits. Luckily I was able to accommodate their quick turnaround needs. I had a 15 minute window to identify a couple location options on-site and stage a group of 12 people in an interesting composition. I think it worked out pretty well!

Food and Interiors @ The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse in Palo Alto

Food and Interiors @ The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse in Palo Alto

Photographing restaurants is kinda my thing – everything from the smallest details to sweeping panoramic interiors, pouring fancy cocktails to elegantly styled dishes. The Sea by Alexander’s Steakhouse in Palo Alto needed some new photos showing off their banquet / private dining space, so we ended up shooting that and a lot more! Here’s a few of my faves…

Santa Cruz Headshot

This was a quick headshot for one person in Santa Cruz, California. We met up near Crow’s Nest at Twin Lakes beach on a weekday morning, and our goal was to get a few different backdrops that felt natural without distracting from the subject. The first shot is with the ocean in the background, the wood shot is the side of the restaurant in a breezeway, and the last shot I positioned my subject in the shade, with some nice, sunlit green foliage in the background. All in about 15 minutes, easy!

San Francisco Corporate Real Estate Headshots

San Francisco Corporate Real Estate Headshots

I found an out of the way spot in the office space for this company to set up and shoot some new headshots for 26 people in about 4 hours. I was shooting tethered to a laptop so each person could review the shots as we went, and reshoot as necessary. I love doing it this way because I know I’m getting at least a few shots for each person that they will be satisfied with.

Corporate Headshots (Group and Individual) In Campbell, California

Corporate Headshots (Group and Individual) In Campbell, California

Ah, corporate headshots: the perfect day to call in sick.

But not always. I try to make sure it's painless, quick, easy, and dare I say... fun. Seriously, if you give me 5 minutes, I'll give you a great shot (or three). Retouching is always included – I'm totally OK with vanity edits.

These types of photo shoots are always "on location" - that is, I come to your office, home or other location, set up lighting gear and get to work! For this company, I set up in a conference room for the individual shots, and we used the kitchen for a bigger group shot. Can you tell? Good :)

Fat Daddy's Smokehouse in Kihei, Maui

Fat Daddy's Smokehouse in Kihei, Maui

If you love BBQ and tasty drinks and find yourself on the south side of Maui in the lovely little town of Kihei, then you absolutely must check out Fat Daddy's Smokehouse for dinner. Your family will love getting their hands dirty on these scrumptious, finger-friendly dishes (I highly recommend the "burnt tips"). The location is small, but packs big taste and a friendly, clean atmosphere. Nestled in the heart of the restaurant is a fully-stocked bar that is known for its selection of top-shelf whisky options. Eat up, drink up! Here's a few photos from my photo shoot there:

Pasta Dishes at Five Silicon Valley Restaurants

Pasta Dishes at Five Silicon Valley Restaurants

I shot some pasta dishes at five restaurants around the Bay Area in one day – needless to say my family and I ate well for a few days... I love the unique presentation at each location. Food photography is challenging, but highly rewarding (and tasty!). Enjoy a few of my faves from my "pasta shoot day" below:

Menlo Park Headshot Photography

Menlo Park Headshot Photography

On-site professional portraits for a luxury real estate group in Menlo Park, California. I set up a white backdrop and lighting in the office and we had a blast getting a variety of poses, from full body to waist up and tighter headshots.

Menlo Park Hotel - Food & Drink Photos

The Executive Chef in the about-to-open Hotel Nia restaurant in Menlo Park is truly a visionary. I only photographed a few of the middle-eastern-inspired dishes, but the color, texture and overall presentation is truly impressive. I hope to return soon to photograph more of his edible artwork! Here's a few of my faves:

Menlo Park Hotel Staff Lifestyle Portraits

Menlo Park Hotel Staff Lifestyle Portraits

There's a new hotel in town – and it's a stunningly beautiful creation named Hotel Nia. I arrived a week before opening, so of course between the final construction, incoming decor and staff training, it was a bit of a chaotic environment to shoot in. Plus the weather was sunny one minute, and pouring rain the next – guaranteeing a variety of settings and a true challenge for the photographer (me). This shoot was dual-purpose – first, to get some food and drink photos for the restaurant, and second to capture some good portraits of various staff for press releases and the website.

Editorial Portrait: Bike Doctor @ Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz

Editorial Portrait: Bike Doctor @ Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz

A magazine contacted me recently to photograph this local doctor for a story they are writing about him. The only qualifications were to get some portrait and landscape orientation shots, and to make sure the subject brought his bike along to use as a prop. Since he's also a surfer, we met at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz to get a unique setting/backdrop for the shots. Here's a couple of my faves from the session:

Santa Cruz Headshots on the West Side

Santa Cruz Headshots on the West Side

This local (Santa Cruz) startup company needed some fresh portraits for their website – casual, yet professional; so of course we met at the brewery down the street on a cold December morning. Sadly, the brewery (Humble Sea) was not pouring at that ungodly hour, but we braved the chill anyways. I'm always the lucky one, not having to have MY picture taken – but I do my best to ensure the process is quick, painless, and dare I say? Fun. I had an awesome time with this crew, starting with a big group shot and quickly powering through all the individual portraits in about an hour. Not too shabby! Enjoy a few of my faves below:
